DVD-5 vs. DVD-9

The major differences between DVD-5 and DVD-9 are physical layer and storage capacity. Ad we know that DVD is a optical disc storage media format. DVD Protection: CSS & Region Code

Content Scramble System (CSS) is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) scheme used on DVD-Video discs. CSS prevents the copy of the protected DVD disks. The CSS-encrypted DVDs cannot be copied and burned usually, unless you employ DVD decrypter to remove the CSS protection from DVDs. DVD region code is designed and applied to prevent the playing of one region's DVDs in another region. One can circumvent the region coding of DVDs by creating an all-region DVD. DVD backup software can also remove CSS, Macrovision, and other DVD protections by decrypting and cloning DVDs to new discs.

Choosing DVD discs

Write-Once Discs: A DVD+R is a once-writable optical disc with 4.7 GB of storage capacity. DVD-R is a DVD recordable format with storage capacity of 4.71 GB. Re-writable Discs: DVD+RW is the re-writible optical discs with about 4.7 GB storage capacity. DVD+RW supports random write access, which means that data can be added and removed without erasing the whole disc and starting over (up to about 1000 times). A DVD-RW disc is a rewritable optical disc with equal storage capacity to a DVD-R, typically 4.7 GB.erase and rewrite to a DVD-RW disc. You can erase and rewrite data to a DVD-RW disc.
